Netting China's online buzz
Sam Flemming, founder and CEO of CIC, "the first IWOM research and consulting firm in China"For CNN
SHANGHAI, China (CNN) -- Gone are the days when it was enough to simply Google your name to find out what people were saying about you in cyberspace.
These days -- especially if you're a brand -- it takes a team of professionals backed by high-end technology to troll through the profusion of blogs, forums and other online communities to get the complete picture.
Just last year, marketing information firm Nielsen spent a total of over $100 million to fully acquire BuzzMetrics, the New York-based company that pioneered the systematic tracking and analysis of Consumer-Generated Media (CGM), aka. Internet Word of Mouth (IWOM), ie. what everyone is talking about online.
In short, harnessing the Net is big business.
Now multiply any estimated number of posts by a googol, and you have an idea of the buzz that's building up in China.
"There are 210 million Internet users in China; that means 210 million publishers in China that can write anything they want," says Sam Flemming, founder and CEO of CIC, "the first IWOM research and consulting firm in China."

Internet Marketing, Established Social Networks Are the New Way of Doing Business Online
Before I get to the subject of Internet Marketing of today, let
me tell you a story from the past. Some of you may relate to that
experience.
A lady named Joyce decided she wanted to quit her job and work from home.
Looking for a business opportunity, one of her friends introduced her to
the Home Based Business that she was involved in. Without giving any
more thoughts about it, Joyce joined that MLM.

Yahoo Opens Ymail and Rocketmail Email Addresses
The big question is, what's easier for your friends to remember: YourName1974@yahoo or YourName@ymail or rocketmail? Chances are just about everybody has heard of @yahoo but just about noone will know of @ymail or @rocketmail.
Yahoo has also claimed a "rolling thunder of announcements" in the next six months, all surrounding their email services.

MySpace Gets a Makeover
Scroll down a bit and you'll see the lead video of the day ("hamster gets owned" when I visited), along with thumbnails of other popular videos of the day. The module also has tabs for music (with a MySpace featured artist of the day) and people (highlighting cool people of the day.) To the right is member login, "find a friend" and top music and videos of the day determined by most plays by users.
After login, you'll notice the user page is also updated, with the most significant upgrade being the new navigation bar. Now you can jump to your inbox, check up on your friends, search for people, visit the apps gallery, edit your profile and hit the music site with one click.
In all, the upgrade was desperately needed and it looks great. The site is cleaner, easier to navigate and has the appearance of an actual, useful website rather than a collection of misplaced and poorly-designed apps sitting on a page that looked every bit of its five years of age. They have answered the call to what their audience wants most - videos, music and quick access to email and networking.
